US Fed holds key rate steady, says risks becoming more balanced

The US central bank confirmed in a statement that it was holding its benchmark lending rate steady between 5.25 percent and 5.50 percent, and said it is unlikely to start cutting rates without “greater confidence” that inflation is moving “sustainably” towards its long-term two percent target.
