Modi govt plans budget incentives for low-cost housing ahead of elections: sources

The Modi govt may announce an extension to flagship housing scheme in next month’s budget along with an increase in available subsidies for low-cost housing loans. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who will present an interim budget on Feb. 1, is likely to raise allocations for low-cost housing by more than 15% to 1 trillion rupees for 2024/25.
