China congratulated Pakistan’s new caretaker prime minister, Anwarul Haq Kakar, on his appointment and condemned the recent terrorist attack on a military convoy carrying Chinese workers in Gwadar, Balochistan province. Attacks on projects connected to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor have grown more frequent recently, and Balochistan remains a site of a long-running insurgency.
