We analysed BSE smallcap stocks whose current trailing twelve months (TTM) P/Es are trading below their 5-year average price-to-earnings (P/E). We excluded companies which have posted a net loss in any of the last five fiscal years. There were about over 100 stocks that have passed this filter. We further filtered companies that are in momentum and have given at least a 50 per cent price return in 2022. Interestingly, 6 smallcap stocks have met the criteria, suggests data from ACE Equity.The price-to-earnings (P/E) is the most widely used valuation metric and plays a pivotal role in the stock screening process. The P/E ratio relates a company’s share price to its earnings per share.
